Book 6
Detective Sergeant Magnum Schultz is at it again, this time with her 21-year-old daughter, Jennifer, riding shotgun as a reserve police officer. The two confront local political and cultural wars that deeply divide residents of this small, Eastern Washington city. A clash of viewpoints between two brothers turns deadly. Another man is shot in a local tavern with 25 eye witnesses, yet no one can describe the shooter; a fellow officer kills a black man during a traffic stop, leading to a Black Lives Matter protest. Then white nationalists show up. One burns a cross on the lawn of a black Porterville family.
The combined forces of unbridled political views and ignorant racism erode Magnum's town. And she steps back to re-evaluate the rule of law.
